Obamas RMBS Task Force Tapping FIRREA To Make Prosecution of Misconduct Easier

The Obama administrations Residential MBS Working Group, set up in January to probe misconduct that drove the financial crisis, is apparently trying to tap the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 to make such cases easier to bring. Although it hasnt been used that much, the appeal of pursuing criminal investigations under FIRREA is apparently the relatively lower burden of proof than bringing more traditional criminal charges.
