Lenders in Oakland could soon find it harder to make money: the East Bay city has become the latest to take up an ordinance that takes aim at predatory lenders by placing a host of new restrictions on the types of loans that can be made. The measure has already passed one important hurdle. Last week, the City Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee voted unanimously to recommend it. Because the four members of that
