Competition between the Federal Home Loan Banks and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was very apparent last week as the three GSEs jockeyed for lenders’ attention at the Mortgage Bankers Association of America’s National Secondary Market Conference in New York. During the three-day conference, the FHLBanks took pot shots at the other two GSEs for their antiquated mortgage processing systems and slow turnaround times.
