Ginnie Mae issued $80.9 billion of single-family mortgage-backed securities during the first quarter of 2012, an increase of 6.8 percent from the previous three-month period. It was the highest production level for the program since the end of 2010 and reflected a surge in FHA and VA refinance originations.
