Total delinquency rates and foreclosure start rates decreased for all loan types on a quarter-over-quarter basis, except FHA loans, according to the Mortgage Bankers Associations National Delinquency Survey for the fourth quarter of 2011. The Department of Housing and Urban Development last week withdrew a proposal that would have allowed the Farmer Credit Systems direct lenders to participate as approved lenders in the FHA insurance programs. Ginnie Mae is requesting additional funding in FY 2013 to hire more professionals to help manage the more than $1.2 trillion in outstanding guaranteed mortgage securities it holds and the increasing inherent risks associated with the MBS.
