Fifth Third Bancorp announced on Monday that it has agreed to buy MB Financial in a transaction valued at approximately $4.7 billion. The combined company will then rank fourth in total deposits and second in retail deposits in Chicago market. It will also have a 20 percent share of middle market relationships in Chicago, ranking it second.
As of the end of March, Capital One handled a $25.78 billion servicing portfolio, making the firm the 49th largest servicer, according to Inside Mortgage Finance.
It appears the mortgage real estate investment trust sector – a somewhat stable universe the past few years – might be ready for a major rollup, courtesy of margin compression and tighter margins.
